Heidi Green is a seasoned and passionate veteran teacher with 26 years of experience in the field of education. Throughout her career, she has nurtured young minds in various capacities, serving as a classroom teacher for kindergarten through sixth grade. Currently, Heidi serves as a Math Interventionist for grades 5 and 6 within the Maize Public Schools district.
With an unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students, Heidi’s greatest passion lies in ensuring that every child has access to quality education within the general education classroom setting. She firmly believes that every student deserves an opportunity to succeed in mathematics, and she dedicates herself to employing developmentally appropriate instructional methods tailored to each individual’s needs.
Heidi’s journey began in a Title 1 school, where she spent her first 17 years of teaching. In this environment, she embraced the challenges of catering to a diverse student population, including those at-risk, English language learners, and students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s). This invaluable experience honed her skills in meeting the unique requirements of each student, fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity and support.
Heidi has a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, she holds an ESOL Endorsement, equipping her to address the specific needs of English language learners, ensuring their integration into the learning process. Heidi’s contributions to the field of education were recognized at the White House in 2016 when she received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
In her spare time, Heidi enjoys exploring nature with her husband and three children, indulging in a good book, and engaging in creative activities that fuel her passion for lifelong learning.
